There is a small electric motor mounted in the trunk of my 85 300D, just above the power antenna. It is about the size of a winshield wiper motor, and it is mounted horizontally. There is an aluminum tube projecting approx 12" torwards the rear of the car which mounts just under the front bottom of this motor, and the tube extends forward into body cavity as well. Doesn't appear to be part of the power antenna, so what is this thing?

Are you talking about the motor for the sunroof?

Now that you mention it, yes I guess it is a remote motor for the sunroof. Never thought about where the sunroof motor would be. I operated the SR and yes it is this motor that operates it.
