Can't get any radio stations in my 96 c280

It's a little strange. The antenna goes up and down, but it's like there's no signal coming from the antenna. I can pick up stations intermittently, but only as the head unit itself picks up a signal. I am loathe to replace the stock system. Any sage words of advice on how to fix this?

Have you checked the antenna connection on the radio? I would check to see if its become disconnected, as that would cause poor to no reception.

Yeah, that little black plug is still connected. Is it possible that something else along the line is disconnected?

Its certainly possible. Can you see if the antenna wire is connected to the antenna mast? I forgot to re-connect mine after working on it, and I couldnt figure out why i couldnt get radio reception.

I would think that it would be a connection to the radio. If your still using original wires one of them may have gotten cut on accedent.

The antenna goes up when you put on the radio? or when you click the switch?

Did a recheck early this morning. Unplugged and replugged antenna on the head unit and no change. Checked the wires running to and from antenna in the trunk and all seems okay. My new theory: the head unit is the culprit. Maybe the signal is coming to the head unit, but the head unit has a broken connection internally somewhere.
