How To Remove Radio From A 95 E320?

I had to change the battery of my 95 E320 and when I tried to use the radio, it asks me for a CODE. I posted "how to get the code" and someone told me I had to pull the radio out and look at the serial #s in the back. Problem now is I am having a hard time getting the radio out. Can anyone please tell me how to take the radio out?

Thank you!!

See the two slots at each lower corner?.... you need a special pair of keys to slip into the slot and pull the radio out. The keys are available from eBay. I made my own from scrap steel.

But I don't think the radio codes are on the radio. You'll have to go to the dealer with proof of ownership for the code.

NO wait, just ask a dealer to do a VMI on the vehicle and the radio code is on that. Or just ask the dealer to get the radio code for ya, they'll know what to do. As a matter of fact i think MB might even do that through the 800 number now, they may ask a few questions to verify ownership. AND check through your owners packet, you may find the code cards in there.

Gilly's right. When I had that problem, I just called, and all they asked for was the VIN# and voila.

If it's the original radio, the dealer can give you the code

from the VIN.
If it's a replacment, pull the radio to get the serial number. Often someone in this Audio forum can then look up the code for you.

If a dealer replaced the radio and did their job properly, the correct code should be on VMI, plus the owner should have an updated CODE card. If you receive a code which doesn't work, then it may be time to check the radio serial number.

My radio, on my SL500, would not respond to the code the dealer looked up for me. Turns out it was a replacement radio and the dealer pulled radio out and code was written on top with magic marker. No charge for this from dealer only took him 30 seconds to remove radio with the keys.
