audio wiring in '92 190e
I just recently purchased my 190e and when I did there was no radio in the dash. I have a cd player that I want to install but all the wires are confusing. The previous owner said that there had been an after market cd player installed, but was removed. I have read many posts on this site and none of the colors or diagrams seem to match what I have. I have installed cd decks in a few of my previous cars and think that I could in this car if I only knew what wires are what. The factory harness is still in tact and there are other wires that look like they were hardwired to the previous cd player but I can only find two sets of speaker wires. Another set of wires seems as though they are the other wires that I would need to complete the installation but none of the colors match anything. Would I be better off just starting all over with the wiring? If so How? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The 190E originally had a 2-channel stereo, which explains only two sets.
Two sets go to the fader on the console and then two come back front and two go rear from there. With any modern 4-channel radio, best to eliminate the original fader.

The radio that was removed was also an aftermarket radio. Is it possible that the extra set of wires could be from the fader being bypassed when the last radio was installed? Where exactly is the fader and what does it look like? Maybe if I knew that I could tell more about what is going on. Sorry if this sounds elementary, but I'm new to Mercedes. Thanks for the feedback.

It's a dial you rotate towards the front of the car or towards the rear, to fade the sound forward or back, and it's in the wood trim near the shift lever.
