Cassette to Aux Input Conversion (BE1432)
Has anyone done this on their 1432 radio/cassette(dreaded 1991-93 two-piece setup*).
I read ran accross a thread on converting a "W 203" radio/cassette player to an auxilary out. Becker also provides a cryptic set of "instructions"(meaning???) to do get you to have them the same: http://www.beckerautosound.com/1432-1992-93/index.html Seems pretty simple really, find the pre-amp outputs for cassette player and wire in a set of RCA cables. The "cassette mode" is now the "aux. mode" instead. In the W 203 posting, they incapacitated the cassette player completely. Evidence on the Becker site suggests this isn't a possibility, (Yellow text....but that's okay by me). Anyway, does anyone have any of the low-down on the circuitry of the BE 1432 relevant to the above? I, and I'm sure many drivers, would love to unsolder the old, and solder in the possibility of MP3, CD, Sat Radio, etc. . . . . .Scott *The ugly background = no aux input, no replacing with a "regular"(MB or other) head unit without replacing the whole sound system, no conversion cables for other CD changers, original "Silverstone" CD Changer unreliable, not available, no longer serviced by Becker . . . We're screwed:fork_off: , and your help much appreciated !!! |

I am having lots of fun (?) with my 1432 these days. One late night I came across this MBCA sight that may help you out http://www.mbca.org/northtexas/audio_systems.htm

Does a cd changer need to be present to wire an aux input into the cd changer harness?

Becker will do a $100 mod on your radio.
In my opinion, well worth the price. Works fine. Steve |

I'm going to make a guess here. Not only would you need to have the CD player present, you'd have to have a CD in it!
