Earlier I posted a question regarding buying an Eclipse head unit and CD changer to replace the stock Becker cassette/radio in my 1991 420SEL. Thank you for all of your helpful answers/suggestions. Someone suggested that I go with a newer Becker unit and CD changer. I like the idea, because it retains the general stock look of the dashboard. Plus I like the more dignifired (understated) look of the Becker untis (also the Nakamichi units). I am too old for all of those flashing displays so prevalent in today's stereo units. But the price of a new Becker cassette/radio/CD changer combo is a bit steep at this point. So I was looking through E-Bay when I saw an ad for a Becker BE 1432 unit that will directly control a factory CD changer (not an RF modulator unit). Surprise, surprise the BE 1432 advertised in E-Bay is identical to the one in my car. I looked at the theft deterrent code card that came with the car and, it shows that my car has a BE 1432 unit. So my question is: does the BE 1432 in my car work with a factory CD changer? Or is this guy advertising something that is not true? If the BE 1432 can run a CD cahnger this would then solve my problem and save me money. Does anyone have information regarding whether the BE 1432 unit can control a CD changer??? Incidentally, I suspect that teh BE 1432 may have been a replacement radio in my car. The instruction booklet that came with my car shows a slightly different Becker radio, with slightly different control switches. Thanks for all of your help and I apologize for the length of this message. Watching David Letterman while I write makes me "wordy."
