XM or Sirius Radio Comm Radio is killing me????

I have a 1980 circa am/fm / cassette Becker radio. I can not take any more of that blow hard whats his name, anyway commercial radio is killing me. Except for the Coast to Coast paranormal show at mid night (I do alot of early morning driving) commercial radio is the pits

I am looking for something with satelite. Can I get a satelite radio which come over wireless through my FM radio like we do at the drive in movie theater here?

Any one give me the nickel tour of how this works. Do not want to spend more that $50 on equipment. I see stuff on eBay for $30 or so. Please fill me in/Thanks. Tom

Most of the sat receivers have a FM modulator that will transmit its audio to your FM broadcast radio. The frequency is selectable to a blank part of your dial. Simply plug it in to the cig lighter socket, mount the magnetic XM antenna somewhere close to your car's FM ant and set your fm radio to hear the XM receiver.
Watch your bank/CC account closely if you go with XM. They tried to ding me three times for a total of $300. I get this radio in the post that I did not order. They won't take it back without a RA. Finally got one and they say they will issue a UPS call tag. Never happened. Outsourced customer service is useless.
I enjoy it other than that. I just have to make sure payment method is secure now.

Hi Tom,
I have a Sirius in my car and am pretty happy with it. Most of the units (I think all by now) have an FM transmitter and most will probably have a cassette unit also. The only problem I have with mine is when I drive in the mountains or woods and the antenna cannot see the sky. My Sirius has an antenna that mounts on the roof of the car so I had to snake the wires through the trunk and outside but my cousins XM radio has an antenna that sits in the back (or front I guess) window.
$50 seems a bit low but I have seen some on sale or with rebates that are that low; remember that you also have to pay a monthly subscription rate (mine is like $13.00 a month). I would suggest that you check their websites before you choose one because they both offer free trials that you can listen to on your computer and you can choose the one that suits your music or talk taste the best.

Please let me know if you have any other questions,
Matt

Sirius has worked out great for me. Of course im a huge Howard Stern fan. The other radio is great to. So many channels of music, talk, sports. Its really amazing that people can still put up with regular radio. Once you go to no commercials (besides a few plugs for the channel itself) you cant listen to regular radio. And you can get a unit and car set up for $50 now.
