I live here up in canada and in the winters when the temp is below (around -15C) the radio seems to freeze. It stays on and none of the controls work. Warmer temperatures than this it is fine.
The car is 89 300sel. Radio is original. Any thing that can be done to fix this.

Thats a tough one, eventhough there is a limit for car radios to funtion, yours retires a little to early. The cassette may play to -20 or even -25 but the electronics usualy still worked to -45. I am sure, replacing the radio and faceplate would get rid of the problem. In our shop we put radios with similar problems into the climate chamber to heat or cool to locate the defective part.
