Folks:

Does the 2002 C32 AMG have ambient noise volume control? I recently had a sub box added to the stock system and the total system volume varies up and down, sometimes by as much as 20 db, sometimes slowly, other times quite suddenly. The balance between the stereo and sub also varies. Sometimes the sub almost drowns out the rest of the music, sometimes it is barely audible. And of course, just to frustrate me other times it behaves perfectly!

The installer suspects I have an automatic volume control, and suggested I disable it. I cannot find any mention in the owners manual about it, nor can I find anything in any of the on-board controls and diagnostics that indicate I have it, much less how to defeat it.

Any ideas?
