2000 E430 "No CD Changer"
Hey there. Trying to give my dad a hand, but i'm stuck.
He bought a used 2000 E430 without a CD changer already installed. So i did some research and was able to get a hold of the MC3198 model for his car. I took the inner carpet off on the driver's side trunk area and found the fiber optic cable (brown, black, blue, all bound by some black cloth). The small, black, plastic plug fit into the back of the changer just fine. I know power is going to the changer because i'm able to eject the magazine. The head unit continues to display "NO CD CHANGER" Any help?? I've read some places that you have to take it to the dealer to be re-programmed. But can i just do something else myself? Thanks all. |

2002 C320 No Cd Changer
I recently bought a used 2002 C320 with, what seems like, a factory CD Changer in the glove compartment.
I get a message No CD CHANGER when I press the CD button on the radio. I looked the fiber optic hook up on the CD player - seems OK. Does anyone know if I should check the wiring in the back of the radio? If so, can anyone help to pull out the radio? I can get the radio code from the dealer. Will purchasing and installing a new cd changer fix this? Thanks. nn. |

I experience the same thing in my 2000 E320 but my problem is intermittent. When I take the cartidge out and insert it back in again, it starts to work again. Very strange...

Changer Problem
Hi Bertrand,
Your problem sounds like the changer is malfunctioning. I have seen this before and it turns out to be electronic in nature. I stock exchange units if you wish to get it serviced. Let me know. Cleeve Morrison La Jolla Audio Repair www.lajollaaudiorepair.com |
