The Becker Radio on my 1987 300E is behaving oddly. Probably because I cleaned the dash with a spray cleaner. The on/off swich is stuck at "On" and the radio will not turn off except when I turn off the ignition key.

But, with the ignition off, the speakers occationally make noises and when the speakers make the sounds with the ignition off the automatic antenna sometimes goes up by itself and then it will unpredicatably go down.

I washed the dash about a month ago and I figure it should have dried out by now. (if dampness is causing the problem) Any ideas what is causing the odd behavior and what I can do about it other than pulling the radio and putting it in the clothes dryer?

Smiles.

Hey Earl,

I'd pull the unit and hit it with an electrical parts cleaner. These can be purchased in a spray can almost anywhere like the local auto parts store.
Then, I'd follow-up with a hair dryer on cool setting to blow out any remaining fluid.

Let it sit a day or two to evaporate the final moisture before adding any current. Good luck!

Radioshack contact cleaner for electronics

Just visit the nearest Radio Shack or any Electronic Store for Electronic Cleaning Solution... Chances are you still have moisture in there...

Good luck...
