Michael

When you say all the w124s have the wiring for the phones, does that include the '86-'89s? Thanks

Nope; only after '91 or '92 was it included.

Hey Michael, what digital Version?

As far as I know no one makes a digital ie (TDMA, CDMA, GSM well except for the older european GSM stuff but that is 900 or 1800 mhz) hard wired cell phone.
Motorola's 3 watt boosters do not even work with the digital phones, Either do the active handsets, which were really a joy compared to fumbling with a startac in motion.

Could you please elaborate on the phone that you got, and what network it operates on?

Best wishes and take care,
George Androulakis

Yes, only the newer ones is right. I took my phone out and have the handset and receiver out of the trunk. I doubt it's worth much now a days, but if someone thinks it's worth more than $100, then I'll sell it. Otherwise it will sit on the garage shelf till I sell the car(however many years from now that is). I left the wiring in the car

The phone in my 500E is called (per Motorola) their "Mobile TDMA Phone", no part number beyond that. And mine's been bench-tested and its dual mode nature confirmed. Neither Motorola nor MBZ knew anything about the phone at first, but I stayed on Motorola (I was trying to get an owner's manual so I could program its user features) until some service supervisor overheard what was going on and volunteered that he had a manual in his desk! Hw copied it and overnighted it to me.

One thing is for sure. and that is that the phone clips right in. 15 minute install for me, but I've had my console apart a bunch of times. The handset itself looks much like the old one, just is a bit more curved in profile. I'd be happy to send a picture of the handset if anyone would like...the trunk-mounted transceiver looks identical.

Replacing integrated analog phone with digital

I was just notified that Verizon is going to eliminate analog service by 2008. In addition, as far as I know, Verizon is the only carrier that offered the analog service, so it seems there will be no way to keep my analog phone functioning. I would love to be able to replace my integrated analog phone with a new digital unit, but few if any others ever say that it is possible. You seem to have found a solution, so I was hoping you could help me find a phone to plug into my 195 E320.

I think it might be like always going back to that same bad relationship with an ex girlfriend.
You feel you love them too much, or you are just too stupid to know any better.
