Becker Europa plays backwards
The original Becker Europa in my '83 300 D became possessed and now only plays cassettes backward. I'd like to keep the radio, and need it to work properly with an MP3 player. So, before I begin disassembly, what am I to look for?
Not sure of the model, but it looks just like the attached picture. Thanks, D. |

Just play Zepplin in it and be happy.

Listen for it to start playing foreign languages backwards.....like a language that it has never played before. Watch for the hood emblem to twist around360 degrees on its own......then find a priest and squirt holy water at it and....
This is not helpful to you. Sorry, I couldn't help myself. At least it got a bump!

One of two things...
Easy = BAD head alignment. Can be fixed by realigning/adjusting the head.
Hard = the motor is now being fed with reversed polarity. Not lots of hope with an older unit unless you have a sympathetic friend who is good with that sort of thing.

Tape Problem
Sounds like the switch the controls the direction of play is broken. Not a head alignment problem on this model.
