Hello, the Becker Grand Prix radio bit the dust a couple days ago. The radio works but the cassette tape doesnt.

I took it apart, cleaned the connections, traces, capstan, belt, rubber rollers, etc. It worked again for 10 minutes then stopped working again. What happens is when you put the tape in, it says Track 2 and spits it back out. You cannot fast forward, backwards, flip tape, etc. has this happened to anyone? BTW, I tried different tapes, so its defintly the radio.

I want to stay OE on the radio and I need a cassette tape player. Any ideas before I buy a new radio or send mine in to becker for repairs?

We could fix your radio, sell you a "Becker" rebuilt, or sell you the parts to fix it yourself.

I personally don't know about what your problem is, but my brother who repairs the radios will. I'll see if he has time to reply.

Hello and thanks for the reply.

Can you ask him if he has an exchange program? I called becker and they said I have to mail them my radio unit and they will clean the faceplate and put a rebuilt unit on for $120.00. If you guys have something like that with a fast turn around, i would be interested.

I will be checking the forum throught the day, my email is kind of messed up, so if you need to email me, try ezlife69@hotmail.com
