Anyone tried to fit speakers in the doors of an SL?

I'm looking at finding a home for 2 additional speakers in the frontal area of my '86 560SL. I haven't yet had the door panels off, so was curious if anyone has fitted 6" mid's in there? I absolutely hate the idea of putting speakers in the rear compartment, on the floor, and would like to have the sound stage entirely up front if possible. Kickpanel installations anybody?

Speaker install in those front doors is possible but you must be very careful..I would show you pictures of 5.25 mids in the front of my 83 300cd but I have lost the pictures to a trashed hard drive. You must remove the door panel to check for clearance and then coordinate that with the cut in the door panel...Measure 3 times...Cut once...

The doors seem like a poor location for speakers sound-wise. They'd be too low for optimal listening unless maybe they were angled up toward the vehicle occupants.
