Correct Becker Radio for our 350 SL US Model

If anyone has a decent correct Becker Radio for the US Model 350 SL please let me know. Most everything else on the car is original but we would like to get rid of the modern radio/cassette on the car. Also this car is an early US model, the 1099th car built. So it has the round plastic vent grommets on the headrests like the 280 SL had. We are missing one grommet and would like to find another if anyone has one. And finally, we would like to replace the seatbelts which are faded black and thread worn. We have been unable to locate these items so far. Your help appreciated.

Google Sternzeit 107, click translate this page then ex- factory price list then
your model year. Scroll down to find what radio options were available for your car. Then find a wrecker in your area that specializes in MBz or German cars. If they don't have it they have a network that will find it. Should have added: look at your data card box 51 there will be a number (1,2 etc) which correlates to the numbers on the option list. 51/1 etc. If it turns out to be a Mexico model, I have one for $35.00 but the cassette needs work.

Your data card will have the original radio coded on it. You can get a copy of your data card from the Mercedes Benz Classic Center for free. The radio (once you establish which one was original) can be purchased on ebay as they are on there all the time. I found one for my 73 that was in great shape for about $115.

I have two headrests that I am willing to part with if you are interested. I also have many other parts from a 1972 model serial #339.

Radio and headrest

thanks. I will see about getting a data card. As for the head rest, ours are in excellent shape other than the missing plastic vent gromet that is in the side of one. Most of the 350 SLs we have seen are later in the year production and do not have the vent holes in the sides of the headrest, like the preceding Pagoda models did. Our 350SL is an early US production model (not grey market) and has those vent holes. Does the headrest you offer have vent holes with plastic gromet?

head rests

I know they have the holes, but not sure if the plastic trim is still in them. I will check and report back tomorrow sometime.

Grommets

I have two of the headrest grommets. Oh yeah, they are a very light tan color. I am sure they could be dyed or painted to match your existing interior color if necessary.

You can email me at engr693@yahoo.com
