Speaker Replacement in 300sdl question

What kind of replacement speakers are available for a 1986 300SDL? Would like to be able to simply drop them in and hook up the wires without having to make fittings, modify bolt brackets, anything like that. Don't want it to hop at stop lights. Just want it to sound as good as it did when it left the factory. Right now I only have one speaker out of four that even works.

Would like high quality speakers but don't need extra decibels.

Any advice? I'm an audio idiot even though I'm a picky listener.

Thanks...

I've got a Pioneer DEH-4800 unit installed already. Circuit City did it. Made a mess, but I can work around it.

4x6M up front, 6.5" rear.

I have Alpines in my SDL, decent for what I paid. Rears you will have to modify some as they're a metric size factory. Fronts drop in.

If you have the patience, clean up the wiring behind the dash and install a nice small amplifier. 30-50x4 will blow your mind in sound quality.

I've never even looked at the inside of a speaker compartment before. What does this "modification" involve? Making adapters for screw holes to fit? Shaving parts so it'll slide in?

Fronts are a drop in.

The rear, basically you remove the speaker from the pod it is in (factory one), then once the old is out, you affix the new driver into the old pod. I'll try to find some pictures

Crutchfield has a place on their website where you can see what speakers fit in your car. I think they also will send you adapters if they're required along with an installation guide. It's worth looking at even if you don't buy them there.
