'80 450SL Replacement Radio - What Fits and Need Advice
I have a 1980 450SL that I am looking to replace the tape player/radio with a new cd player. The one that is in there is an aftermarket one that the previous owner had put, so i don't know what the size of the factory radio was.
Anyways, are there certain sizes of receivers/cd players that will fit in there, and if so, are there any modifications or whatnot that need to be made in order to install? Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated Thanks! |

The only concern should be depth, headunits are the standard size (DIN I believe is the name).
Anything else should wire up no problem, ground, switched 12v, constant 12v, and dimmer. Power from a headunit blows. High distortion, low vocal range, etc. I'd pick up a small amplifier and drive the speakers off of that. The sound quality will blow you away for the piddly amount you'll have invested.
