Where to get amp serviced?
 

I have the bose six-speaker system in my car with CD changer (works actually),

But i think the amp is going out (channels go out and crackle once the think is one for a while, usually the left (drivers) side, and then come back only if one CRANKS the volumne up for a second, but not well. it seems to be getting worse.

I emailed Becker and they want $700 to sell me a refurb amp. this seems incredibly, insanely expensive. I imagine I could get a new system for about that much. with better sound.

anyone have a cheaper alternative for repair? any of them in the texas area?

anyone know what might be wrong with it that one could DIY? I am handy with a soldering iron.

In your 400E? Should be a few small amps, I have extras if you want some. I've never seen a Bose setup in those... just the multi piece (headunit/tuner) Becker setup. 1432
