Hi, I'm new to this board, and I need a little help with the stereo on my 94 E420. The driver's dash speaker stopped working the other day, an when I took both dash speakers out, I noticed they are different. One is a Dual cone 6 ohm speaker and the other one is a single cone 4 ohm speaker. I have a set of Clarion 5.25 2-way coaxials that fit nicely, but the driver's side sounds terrible when they are hooked up. Are there any suggestions for fixing this? Also, if I can't use my 5.25's up front, do they fit in the rear deck? Thanks

NG

Niko,

What do you exactly mean by they sound horrible when you put in your 5.25 Clarions? Remember, your stock deck will work best with your stock speakers. Try to take the passenger's speaker and put it in the driver's side to see if the problem still persist. MB Quart makes some speakers for MB, I believe.

Both of your speakers should be the same ohm. With your stock deck power, having a difference of 2 ohms will not make a difference, in terms of hearing quality.

I hope I helped you.

FYI the left front speaker is also used as the hands-free telephone speaker. It has a dual voice coil with 2 different sets of leads for the phone.

This may somehow be affecting you; just thought you should know.
