Starting off from scratch.

Ok ladies and germs, I am tired of my current sounds system that I have in my wagon. I am going to tear it all down and apart and get better stuff than what I have currently got.

Currently I have:
Infinity Components
Alpine 4 Channel Amp
Alpine Mono Amp
JL 12W3 Subwoofer
EQ - Alpine
Pioneer Premier Headunit

I wanna tear this all out, and start off fresh. I am thinking about Focal Components or Diamond Audio Components. I am keeping my Subwoofer, but and replacing my amps. I dont know what company I am going to use for these yet. I am ditching the EQ. My headunit may or may not be replaced. I need to find something that I like before I replace it.

Anyone got any opinions on new speakers and amps? I am open to ideas. :)

In my 190 I've got this:

Speakers:
Boston Pro 6.5 separates 6.5" woofer, 1" tweeter, crossover up front.

Boston NX57 (coax 5.25" woofer, 0.75" tweeter) in the Rear.

JL Audio 6w0 Subs in the first aid kit area. (not in use anymore)

Infinity 1242w subs in the trunk. Eventually they'll become Alpines or something when funds surge lol.

Amps:

2x MTX 6403 One powers the fronts and one powers the rears. I think this might be under powering the speakers as according to Boston power for the fronts is "400" and to the rears is "140" not sure if that rms or peak.

1x Hifonics Zeus ZXi 1006 driving the Infinity subs.

Headunit:
Pioneer P7800MP

Sounds pretty badass to me. Not sure about the underpowering thing though.

Good idea! I'll be right over. You can just put all of that "junk" in my car, and I'll haul it off for you . . . :ukliam3:

Come get it man, its yours.... ;)

My system now sounds good, but it can sound better, and that's why I wanna upgrade. Those infinitys are sweet though. I just want change....

I'm surprised. It sounds like it's WAY better than anything I've ever had in any car I've owned. Don't know what it sounds like, but it seems like an impressive list of compnents.

Ok all, I am officially getting a pair of A/D/S components.

Dont know about amps, but I am sure it will sound AWESOME.

I know this is going to sound crazy but a buddy of mine has a 10" Lightning Audio sub in his s10, hooked up to a 1500watt amp. All LA components, and it will shake your damn eyeballs standing ten feet from it. I believe its all top-of-the-line Lightning Audio, but it sounds so damn good. I dont know if your going for beats or sound quality but it has both.

I hate to admit it but I used to have a Cadillac with 8 10" LA subs in the trunk, Kicker Speakers (which were GREAT) and 2600 watts (3 amps) running it and it was a great system. You could feel the damn thing coming down the road. I know it sounds outlandish but I have pics to prove it.

I'm told old Precision Power Sedona or Art Series amp are pretty good sound. Mine are all MTX in the 190 and Kenwood in the SD.

What you should look for in a good amp is a
1. Low THD (total harmonic distorion) value, this value is guaranteed to be lower than the THD of your headunit, which is one of the reasons people actually put in external amplifier for their speakers.

2. True output power. Some amps mainly the cheap ones will give you their power specifications at some off voltage like 14.5 volts or 13.5 or something and that Watts Rms value will be no where near the same as it is when the car is at 12.0 Volts. Let's face it your car might only be at 14.5 or even 13.5 a fraction of the time, you turn on headlamps and your subs kick in you can kiss that 13 good bye. I know when my subs hit and I have the system cranked up my voltage will drop down (at night with headlamps and everything on) to about 11.7 Volts, which angers my radar detector.

3. Stability. Make sure that if your going to apply a certain load (2ohm, 4ohm, or what have you) that your amplifier is stable in at that load. Some amplifiers are not 2 ohm stable. However you're dealing with components I doubt they'll be hooked up at 2 Ohms but it just always good to know ahead of hand.

Thats all I can think about right at the moment.
