Exclamation I Need Photos! W124 Antenna Mounting 1994 E320 Sedan

A bike fell on my trunk on my birthday last year (ouch) it crushed the antenna. I tried a cheapie aftermarket one which didn't work/fit (and was twice as long as the original).. I decided to try and fix the original, which didn't work up until last week when I decided to check it out again... there was a peice from the old mast jammed in the tube... I removed that and now it works... Too bad I have NO idea how it is mounted at this point.

Will someone please remove their trunk carpeting and just take a few pics for me of how it is mounted? That would really help me out!

I have a 1994 E320 Sedan, I believe the chassis is 124.032
.

It's kind of urgent because we're having rain all week and I have plastic bags and paper towels jammed in the antenna hole until I know how to put it back in... I have work all week (holiday hours in retail) so I can't even tinker through it with trial/error.

Do you still need these photos? It's pretty cold here but I'd be willing to take out the carpet and snap some pics for you. Let me know.

I just ordered a new mast. So, in the next few days, I should (hopefully) be putting it in. If you still need them, I can take pics also.

I still need photos (but it sounds like the post prior to yours will be posting them), however, take photos as it seems there aren't many documenting this deed... which should be painlessly easy... unless your mast suffered any sort of damage from impact.

If your new antenna mast won't completely retract after replacement you will need to remove the entire antenna unit and remove a peice of metal that can break off on impact from the old antenna, then the new one will fit nicely. If you have any questions (should you run into that) I can provide a better explanation.

Here you go Jeff. There is a small bracket that attaches to the antenna on it's underside, then attaches to the car with the small bolt that I have circled in yellow in all the pics. I assume that it is secured at the top were it exits the car as I couldn't see any other attachment points.

I left the carpet out in case you need some other pics, just let me know.

Thank you so much! I don't have work until 2pm tomorrow so I'll get up bright and early and try to attempt the fix, I will post pics and results if I think they'll help anyone out, but your pics look just fine.

Thanks again!

Bringing this old thread back to life,

On my 300E, there seems to be no lower mounting bolt, and as far as I can tell, no place on the antenna motor housing for a screw or bolt.

Is there a simple way to tell the difference between a original antenna and a 'universal' aftermarket one?

On the original antenna, do the lower mounting screws go into the motor housing, or to a clip attached to the housing?

And I found an answer - it's in too much detail, as it includes drilling a hole in the fender
