211 2008 E350 bluetooth connectivity

Or lack of it. I have fiddled with all settings and cannot get my mobile phone to sync with the bluetooth puck thing that clips into the center console where a phone would go, if we were still in 2008. It really is a fantastic sound system and I won't change it out, even if there were options.

I've had it to the dealer for advice but their tech kid is unable to help.

I've sort of given up but thought I'd ask around to see if anyone can sync a modern phone to that ancient sound system.
