Please help me with the old security system of my 560SEL
I have 560SEL 1989. The security system was working fine but not any more. I will tell you briefly how it suppose to work. First of all, if I didn't put the security key in its place the car will never crank (live if the starter disconnected) but will make the ignition on normally. I used to put the little security key (as shown in pictures) in its place till I hear so ticks and the security LED will shut off, then I have about 30 seconds to start the car and it will crank. Later when I put it I still can hear the ticks but the LED will still blink but in a longer interval and I can still crank the car and start it.
Now when put the little security key in its place till I don't hear so ticks and the security LED will stay blinking like I never put the security key, thus, I can never crank the car. I disconnected the battery for more than a day and got nothing, same problem. Please tell me if there is a way to fix it or to disconnect it and start the car without it. I want to sell this car and it's in a very good condition/full options.

Answer:
This is not an OEM system.
I am moving this to "Car Audio and Multimedia" forum, where they may be able to help. |

alright well My brother in law had one of these in his jeep or at least one that was similar. I believe that it is in series with the hot wire on the ignition and a wire from there goes to a relay that then goes to the stater solenoid. Now yours probably is different. This will take awhile to find the problem. were ever the key plugs into you need to trace the wires and see were they go. see if you can post some pics of the back of where the key plugs into.

Problem fixed after disconnecting the device and connect the proper wire. Many thanks to BoomInTheTrunk
