'94 - '99 Factory Radio

Has anyone replaced the power / volume knob on their '94 - '99 radios? The rubber on mine has become malleable and is peeling off little by little. Earlier today I visited Lakeview MB Parts, they were very nice, pulled up the diagram, but no separate part number to order. The guy then spent about 15 min looking for the part in the back, as he said that the dealer keeps some odds and ends around in cases like this, but no luck. He said to try another dealer, so I called Rallye MB Parts - they were extremely terse and basically said they were not able to help because my car is so old! I mean, I understand that its tough to source little things like this for a discontinued model, but the guy pretty much put me (my car) down saying that their dealer is more suited to help with the latest models - I was in shock - sort of. Oh well - I'm just trying to hunt this part down.

Such that it's something so open to wear and tear I'm a little hesitant to contact junk yards, as this is something I would rather get new. Has anyone sourced this part yet? Thank you!

They show every year except for my 1998 ! Let us know the price they want. The only problem is it won't fix the lousy encoder that makes the volume go the wrong way! I wonder if they sell that part...

Try a search in the audio forum using the terms volume and knob. I remember this problem being described--there was a diy fix that involved cleaning the volume potentiometer.......
