I have a 1980 450 SL that I removed the antenna power unit on sometime last year in order to replace the antenna mast...the problem is, however, that I never re-mounted the unit and I of course didn't write down what I did, so when I went to do so I ran into a couple of surprises!

Does anyone have any pictures of how the unit should be mounted? I ended up with an extra metal mounting brace and an extra wire that I don't know where they go.

I'm specifically looking to see a) how the unit should be mounted back to the frame, and b) where the leftover wire I have should go. I got the one (grey) wire that screws onto the unit at the top, but there is an extra black one with a square head and threads that I can't seem to figure out where it goes.

If need be, I can post some pictures later on today, but if anyone has any pictures or can tell me how to replace it, I'd appreciate it.

Alright, I finally got around to getting a picture of my antenna housing unit. I've highlighted the 3 areas/things I have questions about.

Per the picture:

1. When I put everything back together, I had this bracket still floating around. What is this supposed to attach to or keep mounted?

2. When I reconnected the wires, I was able to attach the power source and the gray antenna unit (that screws into the top by the antenna mast). However, I had this wire left over.. I can't remember if it was connected to something or not before I disconnected it. Does anyone know where this is supposed to go?

3. This is how I currently have the unit attached. There is just one bracket (the one in green) that connects to the bottom of the housing unit and screws in to the frame where that phillips screw is. Should there be something else to mount the unit, as well?

Looks like a phone antenna cable connection. Mine was gone before I got my 560SL and the extra mount might be for some kind of amp for the phone antenna.

You might have better luck in the SL forum.
