replacing dash board speakers

Can someone please help me. I've 92 300 E, the right hand speaker on the dash board making all sort of static noises. I am thinking its time to replace the speakers. I dont know how to remove the speakers grille. I dont want to force to break anything. Can someone explain me exactly what I need to do? Any picture would really be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know about yours, but all the ones I've seen have small screws in them. just unscrew those, and your grills should come right out.

I'm surprised no one else here has commented. I'm sure there are plenty of people with 124s who have replaced speakers.

On my 88, the grills just sort of pry up. On my 94, there is a small grill strip which pries up and the screws holding the big grill are then exposed. I used a very small screwdriver and put a handkerchief over the tip to do the prying.

There are small strips on the inboard edge of each grill cover that must be removed. Use a small, thin flat screwdriver and pry up, starting at the front. Be careful, as they are old and brittle and may snap off in parts. (Actually, this may happen no matter how careful you are.)

There are two small phillips screws to remove once you take the strips off. Then the grill just lifts off.
