If I replace my 1984 380sl becker radio with a grand prix 0780, will the 0780 fit the orginal wiring harness. Also is the security code in the radio or the detachable faceplate, and if it is in the faceplate can I use my old faceplate on the 0780 radio

There is no security code in that model. The 780 is the last of the series that will plug right in. I upgraded my W123 to the 780, with new pioneer speakers under the factory grilles and it made a huge improvement.
