1994 E420 car phone

I recently acquired a W124 1994 E420 with the factory car phone option. There is no handset, however. I called up the Mercedes dealer and they said the phone was made by Motorolla, but was no longer being manufactured. Is there any way I can install the phone in the car, and is there any store or website that I can order it from? Also, is it worth it. I know that some factory car phones really don't work that well. Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advanced, Josh

ahhh, what a coincidence. I bought a '95 E320 with the phone and I took it out. It was taking up space in the center console.

Mail me privately and I'll sell it to you. What you won't get is the overhead handsfree console.

Just remember, this phone works great as it's a 3watt, but it's ANALOG, so you cannot use it with all the latest and greatest phone carriers that are CDMA, etc. So you will have to get analog service which isn't as good a deal as the digital stuff from cingular, verizon, sprintpcs, voicestream, at&t, etc.

let me know

I also purchased a '94 with phone and took it out to free up the space. The factory phone is hard wired and not transportable, and old technology. But, if you still desire, I have mine available. Ed

another phone offer

hi josh,
i have a brand new in the box factory m.b. telephone. it is complete. it may be more than you need,but since they are getting harder to come by.it might be worth getting.[that way you would have new parts if needed]

if you want to discuss this, please e-mail me privately.

rockjockjh,

I would like to see you install this phone and make it as clean and factory as you can. The analog "minutes" are more expensive, but if you are ever in remote areas as I am, that is the only service you can get.

Additionally, someday, someone will be marveling over your car because it still has the original factory phone and hasn't been butchered.

I had a factory Motorola phone in my '96 E300D and it was the second best in-car phone I ever had.

Good luck,
