1995 C280 Radio Speaker "Pops"

The speaker in the drivers door of my 1995 C280 has a "popping" noise coming from it. I don't think it is a blown speaker since when I use the fader and balance controls to turn it completely down it still "pops." I am guessing that one channel of the amplifier has gone bad and the popping sound is coming from the channel going in/out. The vehicle has the Bose stereo system and I was wondering if this system uses a separate amplifier that could be replaced or if it would require replacing the radio itself. If a separate amplifier is used where is it located and is it easy to replace?

Pop in Speakers

Hi BenzBob,

The problem you have is with the radio. You have a CM2294 or CM2194. Both of those radios are due a rebuild due to parts failure within it. We stock all parts and would be able to bring it back to factory specs. Contact me via the website and I will further help you.

Thank you for using ShopForum and I look forward to helping you.

Wouldn't it be easier just to replace the radio with a new one and possibly get one with a CD player?
