This may be a really dumb question... but why does my 92 300d have two sets of inputs on the left front dash speaker? The right dash speaker has only one set, and has a smaller magnet. They look identical from the front (both have whizzer cones and "bullet" type dust caps).

One is probably for a hands free telephone hook-up. Both of my 124s had those, and the '94 even had a separate small speaker for telephone voice.

Good call -- thanks! My car does have a Pioneer phone installed. I'm not sure whether to leave it there (it's kinda cool) or pull it out. The mounting console matches the interior even!

I have the same issue, the phone is in the armrest and I like it. I looked into getting it modified so that it could work again, but it would require a thousand dollar analog adapter -- not worth it! I guess I'll just leave it there. My 3 year old likes to play with it, too.
