Removing antenna, 85 TD wagon
I have a buddy with a parts car wagon who is going to remove the antenna and gasket for me, but does not know how to go about it. Any tips?? I'm assuming take out the spare tire and get at it from there.
Has anyone undertaken this job? When I got my wagon it had an aftermarket antenna that quickly broke off. Now, I've got a big hole where an antenna should be.... Thanks in advance,

There is a nut on the outside (at the top of the antenna base) that has to be removed. The spare needs to be removed and then there is a bolt with a bracket holding the box of the antenna. IIRC it's just 2 those two connections and unplugging the antenna wire.
TIP: a piece of leather and a pair of channel locks can be used to remove the nut at the antenna base if you don't have a slotted antenna wrench.

I just took mine apart last weekend - just like described above - there is the multi-plug connector, and also a coaxial cable that connect to the antenna housing. Takes about 5 minutes.
