Smile In Dash CD/MP3 player for 1999 C230 Kompressor

Hi All,
I would like to replace my car stereo for a newer kind that can play CD and I can plug my IPOD. Any thoughts, recommendations? Is this even possible? I had great help with the site on my car problems a month ago, so I thought I'd give it another try. Thanks in advance!

i just put SOny w ipod cable into 300e. works awesome! charges ipod too. navigating songs is a little cumbersome (only can set playback to album or artist or all, i just leave it on shuffle)

if you goto crutchfield and select your car itll show you what fits.
they also include power harness that makes it easier to install.

I put an Alpine 9883 into my 2000 C230K, and I've been very happy with it. It reads mp3 CD's, has an aux-in and a separate Ipod-port, which is nice, and the sound is pretty good for a built-in amp. Also, the faceplate is a dark grey/black, and while the display colors and button colors don't really match up with the interior, the rest of the faceplate blends into the car really well (I have the sport package fake carbon fiber trim).

Mine came with the Ipod interface cable thrown in, that was a promotion that wasn't part of the standard package, but look around. Also, I bought mine from Crutchfield, and they're pretty good about including most everything you need to do a basic plug-and-play install. Except for the soldering of the car harness to the receiver harness, it was pretty straightforward install - once the harness was ready to go, it took about 30 minutes to R/R the old head unit and hook up the new one.

(Note that I didn't install the ipod cable - that requires removing trim panels, depending on where you want to stash your ipod)

Hi Guys,
We don't have Crutchfield here in LA, so I went to BestBuy, I got a Sony with CD,Bluetooth,iPOD ready stereo. It works fabulously. Now I don't have to worry about holding my cell while on the road. It took them a few minutes to install the stereo. The best $300 I've spent! I've been driving this car without CD player forever.... Thanks for the input.
