power antenna not working now

Mr "monkey-wrench" fixes my car's A/C control box behind the dash and now my power antenna is not working.. Sure bring it back we'll take a look for 65 dollars an hour if its not working we'll replace it... It was working before you tore my dash apart... well anyhow anyone have any suggestions ?? is there a power antenna fuse or something ? I took the radio out and checked all the connections, thank god I had the radio code..
Any ideas it was working two days ago and now nothing ??

Thanks

either they clipped the wire that tells the antenna the radio is on or off, or a fuse blew, or they blew the antenna relay's.

Mine has a blown relay and will not go up and down, no biggie for me, I never use the radio, and prefer it down when I drive....

The motor in the antenna is fine, but the antenna relay module that is in mine is bad.

I suspect that you should check your fuses, check the wiring, not sure on colors of wires and what they do though...

That should help you get started.

where do I look for the relays ..?

On mine its built into the antenna. I had to remove the antenna, where I bench tested it and it did not work. I tried the motor direct and it moved, the internal relay on mine is just fried.

Make sure the switch is plugged into the socket. They may not have done so on re-assembly.

does your radio work? One fuse in my car controls radio/antenna, door locks and dome light.

Radio works fine ... Checked all the connections behind the radio and everything looks O.K. Is it hard to take out the power antenna ?

Sorry I gave you some bum info. On my car the antenna runs off a different fuse than the radio. The antenna runs off of fuse #12 in my schematic but mine is an 1987 190 so yours maybe be a different one. This fuse also control some of the interior courtesy lights in my schematic. I would bet they shorted out this. I would find the fuse that controls the antenna and even if it looks good change it anyway.

Look For The Blue Wire...

On the back of the radio, there should be a blue wire. When this wire gets power from the radio, the antenna goes up. When the power isn't there, the antenna goes down. Otherwise, there may be an inline fuse for that wire, or a fuse in your main box that controls the antenna itself. Hopefully these guys just managed to short the wire and blow the fuse.

These are generic wire color codes for most radios:

WIREPower+

WIREpower to clock & data

WIREantenna

Ground is either Black or (in Mercedes) Brown

Well I took out the power antenna and bench tested it and it works. So Now I'm trying to take out the center console to trace the wires .. How does it come out ?? I removed the plate surrounding the shifter and I see 2 screws behind the ashtray under the radio but that's it ?? how do I get the back out ??
Now I'm stuck, radio out , power antenna out and half the dash apart... HELP !!!

O.K.
Power Antenna works fine on the bench
All wires traced and working fine.

Problem has been traced to the antenna relay module..

Went to the bone yards here in AZ this past weekend and no such luck ... my car had the telephone option from the factory and everyone said "nope" your not going to find it in a junkyard...

Anyone out there know someone that can fix this thing ??

Thanks..

I think www.beckerautosound.com sells remanufactured ones and your core turn in for like $150
