I would like to buy and install this unit in my 300SE. They can be found in 1999 E320s.

From what I have gathered on the Becker site and here, the 1999 model will fit with the harness adaptor.

I would prefer the becker model to the Alpine (look the same) as Becker offers repairs and parts for their products. Alpine does not, it seems.

Currently I have a Blaupunkt Toronto installed (2001 model or so).

1990 300SE's originally came with the Becker 1480 head units. Seems like there are two amps in the trunk- one for each side.

I don't "do" car stereos so i would have a shop do the install.

Thoughts?

Just to let you know, we have all the Alpine parts for the factory Mercedes units. We service all the Alpines nationwide. So don't let the parts issue deture you from finding a radio. The Alpine model is CM2299 and the Becker one is BE3302. let me know if I can help you further.

How hard is it to retrofit the later (fiber optic) cd changer?
