currently there is a alpine am/fm cd player(with detachable face) in the dash. It was installed 4 years ago.I'm think of replacing it. How difficult is this? How do i remove the current radio? Is it easier to stick with the same brand? Are the sizes pretty standard? Thanks in advance.

don't really know as i cant see the radio in there, most of the time there is 2 pins that "lock" it into place, if it has a plastic surround pull that off and you might be able to see them

Is it easier to stick with the same brand?

yes don't think alpine has changed there wiring looms in a very long time. if you buy a new alpine head unit the loom with all the wires should just plug in, with not having to rewire anything. (best thing to do it take the old head unit with you to the shops so you can check)
