95 E320 won't load cd's

I was listening to my cd's on a long trip. When it came time to load a new cd, the unit seemed to lock up. I get CD 1 LOAD on the radio, but no music. I can press one of the other six buttons, and get CD 2 LOAD (for example), but again, no music. The player was working fine during the trip, but just refused to start playing any cd after a certain point. I took the magazine out of the changer, all the cd's look fine, none of them are hung up. Where do I start?

Yes, I whacked the unit and it started working again. The CD changer has given me problems before with a loose plug where it connects to the wiring harness. I'll be taking a closer look at the connections when I retire the car for the winter.

Same here guys, and I jiggled the 9 pin connecor and it worked. Sporadically. The harness bends pretty radically going into the 9 pin and at least one of the wires is showing bare insulation. I ahve the unit out ( actually bought one from Ebay which didnt even eject the cartridge), and need to determine how to check the connections.

Well, its not the wiring gents, its internal. I took the unit apart and inspected it, found a slightly loose connection where the 9 pin connects internally, cleaned, but to no avail. I had my old Mission CD player do the same thing , and it was a transitor.

I spoke to the LaJolla folks, and they wont touch these, other than to recommend a $450 replacement.

Thanks for the 9-pin connector hint...

I'll give it a try. If it doesn't work, I'm going for an Audio-10 in dash CD. Enough with this head-in-the-trunk-to-change-CDs stuff. Thanks, Ken in NYC
