I have a 1991 300e 2.6 with the six speaker system. I just upgraded my headunit to a Pioneer DEH P7000BT and have 3.5" infiniti kappas I'm the front and I belied 5 1/4" kappas in the rear. Not sure what the door speakers are. The system has been totally rewired. Now a week into having the new headunit, one of my front speakers and one f the rear speakers have blown out. I've never been satisfied with those tiny speakers in either of the W124s I've owned, so my question is this: if I whip out the dremel, what is the largest speaker size I can fit in the car while retaining the stock look? I read about someone going to 5.25" front/5x7" rear while keepng the stock grills. Can I go any bigger than this or should I go smaller? Also, what particular speakers would you guys recommend? I'm kind of put off by Infonitis now.

I got a wagon, but the fronts are the same...


I installed 5.25" speakers in the front, just took a little bit of time with the dremel to get them to fit.
