Does anybody have a system in a W123? - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

I am currently doing a rear deck DD 9512 subwoofer install sealed off from the trunk ported through rear deck powererd by a DD M3 @ 1ohm. Headunit is a Kenwood 592. Speakers are Infinity Kappas.
What does everybody else have?

Far older and far better equipment in most of my vehicles.

You're doing best by rewiring the entire car.

i have a system in the car. Kenwood x590 and i am running some 12 inch kenwood titanium cone woofers. The system is in the trunk, i redid all the wiring and have drop in Boss IQ series coaxial in the front and i redid the rear deck so to drop in 6x9. The rear speakers are the kenwood excelon x6900. Front speakers are stinger wireing and the subs are monster cable 502xln subwoofer speaker cable. Stinger 4 gauge for power and ground wires and a total of 4 farads in capacitors.

yea how does the sub sound in the trunk? I took the medikit out and it let some air pass. But i decided to just mount the sub in the back deck!

Speaking of rewiring the whole car, I put Infinity Kappas in the front and back of my SEC last week. While I had it torn apart, I ran 12 gauge Monster cable from the back speakers up to the console in the front of the car. It's not connected to anything yet. If I disconnect the existing speaker cables and connect the Monster cable, I should be able to eliminate all of the static I'm getting from the fader now, right?

I'm also hoping to regain the left channel too. It is out and I suspect it's a wiring issue.

Also, I am assuming that if I put a sub in the back at some point, I should run the speaker cable down the same side as my other speaker cables and the power cable down the other side of the car.

Speaker cable on one side of the car power on the other, this is for static issues. It sounds great in the trunk. Remember that low frequencies are not really affected by things in the way. Oh and Dee8go you said run speaker wire to the back if you ever got a sub in the trunk, Why? if your headunit has pre-outs use those over the speaker cable, but then also run the Interconnect(RCA) down the side with the speaker cable. That vendor I mentioned on ebay awhile back, get all the power wire through him, it will be way cheaper.

Do you have a rattle problem with that setup. The rear deck is not that thick around the med kit opening.

I used Monster cable for the speakers since I had a huge spool of it sitting around here doing nothing. The cable from the HU would typically have RCA jacks on it? It's been a loooong time since I messed around with car stereo equipment. Back then, it was two speaker wires and a power cable. That was it.

I installed a sub in the trunk but I couldn't hear it over all the screaming back there.. So I installed it in the back seat and grounded it to an ashtray.

yes they are RCA cables, It still carries the same signal that a speaker wire would but at a much higher voltage than the speaker wire. The preamp is a dedicated boosted signal to send to the amps. I will go take a picture of the back of my head unit so you can get the idea. The two sets of preouts are for the front and rear channels and the subwoofer out is a preout but on those thicker pair of wires coming out the back (they to are RCA).
