Sat Nav Frustrations

The COMAND unit in my 01 E320W4 is driving me batty. It's showing that it's not picking up any satellites, so is relying on the speedometer and internal gyroscopes for determining where it is. Needless to say, it's completely lost and insisting that I'm parking in the middle of Puget Sound every night.

I'm heading down to start a new job in Oregon and I'd really like to have the sat nav working so I can find my way around better. Are there any known problems with these particular models? Could it be a loose cable, either at the head unit or on the antenna? What else could be wrong with my COMAND unit?

Which Comand Unit?

The one in my E320W4 - how many different versions of COMAND fitted in that model?

Command D?

Use the debug mode in COMAND. Depress the MUTE+1+3 keys, select Diagnosis, then calibrate, then System Reset

Is this with ignition on, engine off?, I didn't get a 'Diagnosis' options when pressing 'mute'+'1'+3' together.
