What size sub in later 300E/TE's??
^ What size sub's fit in that door space? My model did not have that, but the door panels are exactly the same so I was going to fit my own. What size are they? Much appreciated

Kappa appears to be favorite because it's a "fill" "mid bass" speaker. IMHO, you'll appreciate better speakers in the dash and rear doors. I just put in 2 Phoenix Gold Ryval 4" speakers in rear doors. Good enough for stock stereo and my 60+ years ears. Separate amp in RR well is for rear door speakers.
Of course you can do amp(s) under back seat and go ballistic .... Last edited by Bob Weir; 11-20-2008 at 01:14 AM. |

Wouldn't you want to put your sub in the trunk?

I have the impression he has a "TE" aka "wagon" that doesn't have a "trunk".
The speakers in the front doors of my wagon are near dead and I had done numerous searches regarding size and preferred speaker mfg & type. Unfortunately, I've read conflicting reports with size stated as small as 4". Probably best to remove panel and have look see. Then there's the issue of mounting due to different speaker mfg configurations. There is a photo [probably in this forum] showing a lower door panel with a round speaker cover [6"?] positioned at hinge side of door. It's either a professional custom job or limited 3rd party production that looks like an ideal solution. I often thought of putting speakers in the doors of the two rear storage compartments. |

Chad put a sub in his spare tire cover. There are pictures of it somewhere on here. He installed the amp on the opposite side of the cargo area. You should check his installation out. It looks good.

I dont have speakers in my doors, but I do have subwoofers in the back. 2 12" JLs.... It sounds pretty good.

Becker was OEM. For more info go here:
http://www.beckerautosound.com/ Depending on model year, w124 Wagons usually have amp located inside right rear storage well, bolted to side closest to 3rd seat. |

Have you put anything in yet? If so, what was it? How'd it work out?
