Aftermarket car alarm/security systems for MB

Aftermarket car alarm/security systems for MB?

Do they really work?

What brand/type to use on which model car?

Your opinion, good or bad idea.

I installed a FM-870 2-way remote start alarm in my old benz, haven't had time to move it to the new one yet, but it worked great. Needed to use a couple diodes and transistors to get the input/output signals right though.

Which car? The 190E has a Viper Paging alarm, with Remote Start.

The TE has a Clifford that is a simple alarm, but can be option out to do alot of different things.

I had a remote starter/keyless entry setup on my w123 300D way back when. It was lovely in the winter. Plan on one for the 280 soon.

Definitely nice in the winter, or even the summer... start it up and let it warm/cool inside before you go out... I had it set up so that one of the aux outputs was used to open/close the windows too.

What does an option like that cost?

they are cheap under $100, but make sure they have timers for the glow plugs on them.

Installed a Omega REC-11+ Keyless entry. Works great.
Extras purchased was 2 relays & some diodes. All for under $60.
I decided to not purchase the Remote Start option.
Install was easy but you must first determine the OEM wiring scheme for the car.

Definitely an creature comfort improvement and highly recommended.
