*Dang* antenna @%#$...
I've replaced a mast within the last 2 years and it didn't give me any problems. Well, not the case with this one! The notched tail just does NOT want to catch in the gear and begin retracting!!!
I'm holding my mouth like this , so what ELSE should I be doing...? BTW - the last one I got from the dealer parts counter, this one came from eBay (less than half the cost of the dealer)!

Nobody but me has ever had this problem? Hard to believe!
I'll just keep trying...

While holding your mouth like this generally works, trying a BFH (Big F***ing Hammer) would also assist the thing to work properly. LMAO!!!

Maybe you are feeding it so that the teeth are facing the wrong way. You can take the inspection cover off the antenna in the trunk to see which way it winds, then make sure the teeth are facing the right way. Should work with no problem.
Actually they make two kinds of masts, one with and one without teeth, and I have used both in the same antenna. Not sure what difference it makes. Try not to fiddle with the inside adjustments of the antenna; it is pretty sensitive - ask me how I know! |

I seldom seem to know the correct way to hold my mouth with things like this. I usually do mine the way you do yours, getting more extreme as time wears on . . .
