Best powered sub

I am thinking I will put a subwoofer in my SEC soon. I'm thinking of using a powered sub like the Infinity Basslink II. Am I giving up anything by having an all-in-one unit like that, as opposed to a separate amp and sub?

If you have one or have a preference as to brands and models, which one do you like and why?

My friends got on in his 350Z. It seems to work well.

uh oh.. someone wants the bump in the trunk.

I'd say get one of those ultra slim subwoofers and put it under the seat(s).. a member here put them in his car and he likes them.

Bazooka maybe, be sure to get one of the bigger units. My 50W Bazooka isn't loud enough.

Get the spinners too and you can hang with the homies and drink 40's.

yah one slim 10 inch under the back seat with the amp under to will most likely fit and will sound way better than the basslink. It will also be cheaper as well.

Who makes one like that? That's really what I had in mind, but haven't sen one that would fit under the seat.

Not looking to rattle windows, just want better dynamic range.

A little boom in the back seat would be nice.

kenwood make some in their excelon lineup, a 10 inch will give you some addition in range bu the 12 will go even lower.

I thought bigger meant louder. It really does give you a wider range on the low side?

Thanks for your comments. I'll look for those.

What about something like this?

I was looking at that one last night. That or the Kenwood seem like they might fit the bill pretty well. Thanks.

subs hit the low tones which you can make loud :)

depending on your sub and amp you will be able to hit a lot more lows with a better quality than a stock system which normally does not use a sub

At the moment I have Infinity Kappas in the front and back. My Alpine head unit just came this morning. I'll see how it sounds once I have that hooked up and then decide for sure about the sub.

Of course you will have better SQ from a separate amplifier and woofer, if you can give up the space do it.

Dee8go 01-14-2009 04:26 PM

No doubt. I'm trying to balance between cost, difficulty, and sound quality to come up with the best bang for my buck without filling my trunk up with stuff.
