Hard top convertible

Please help;
I have a 1984 280 sl hardtop convertible and need some help.
I am a rookie at this but how do you remove the hardtop and lift the convertible in place and secure it?

Thanks

This is quite easy, to be honest.

Locate the 4 locking lugs inside the passenger compartment...two are located behind the visors and two are located behind the doors. Next, you will need to locate the wrench that should have come with the car. Don't panic if you can't find it, you can use a standard blade screwdriver to do the same. Insert the tool into the slot on the lugs and turn them until they release.

Next, locate the handle behind the drivers seat on the side...it looks like a window crank. Rotate the handle back to release the locking mechanism for the back of the top.

Find someone to assist you in lifting the hard top off. Be careful, it is bulky and seems quite heavy, but it only weighs somewhere around 70-80 lbs.

Locate the same handle you rotated to release the back of the top, and rotate it further to release the cover for the convas top.

I have found that it is easier to lock the two front lugs on the canvas first, then rotate the back handle forwards some to engage the "safety latch". Then push the pin on the back of the canvas top into the hole, and continue to rotate the handle all the way forward.

I hope this helped
