123 speaker replacement

Hello,

I am in the process of updating the stereo in my 1982 300d. The stereo and rear speaker replacement is pretty straight forward. However, the front dash speakers are not. It seems there is no source (at least that I can find) for speakers that properly fit into the dash that can be covered by the stock grills. Does anyone have a source for speakers or an alternative.
Thanks.

I used Pioneer TS-G1041R 2-way speakers in the front of my 300td.

I put MB-Quart speakers front and rear. No modifications to the car were necessary. I did have to trim the rear speakers a bit to work with the factory grilles. My intent was to not modify the car in any way; I was successful. If it ever became necessary, I would put the original speakers back.

BTW, I also installed new/heavier wire and eliminated the console-mounted fader control.

DKE-110 (4 inch front) 30-70 Watts @ 4 ohms
DKE-113 (5.25 inch rear) 35-90 Watts @ 4 ohms

I've purchased from Crutchfield several times (not for my 123 - it's still original and sounds great). I'd trust them for a recommendation for proper fit. Their customer service is top notch.
