Replace Alpine headunit?

I am considering the purchase of an 02 E55 and the car has an aftermarket Alpine (dont know the model) head unit installed. There is also a California amp installed in the trunk with nothing connected to it. The head unit is way too busy for my taste. Will replacing the head unit with an aftermarket Blaupunkt be a problem? What about the amp? I know engines, cars and computers but I have never messed with a radio. Please give your opinion / advice!

Why in the world would you want to replace an Alpine with a Blaupunkt?

If you're going to make a change, just get a McIntosh . . . .

Except that a McIntosh looks like it would be at home in a 80's model. In dash record player?

How easy it will be depends on how the head unit was installed. If the previous owner used a plug-in harness, it should be easy to switch. If they cut into the stock harness, it'll be a PITA to swap it out.

I thought the higher end W210's used a Bose sound system as stock?
