How to pull the head unit from a 1991 190E

This was a question but now is an answer.

Open the ashtray and remove the tray from the bracket by sliding the release tab under the lighter to the right. Once the tray is removed and the door remains open, there are two philips head screws accessible through the bottom of the tray holder, remove them. Put the shifter in neutral (parking brake on) Pull the tray holder assembly up and out of the console.

The radio is directly above the and is held in by two spring loaded tabs on either side of the bottom front of the deck. You can release them both by using your thumbs and pushing them down (towards the floor of the cars) and simultaneously using your fingers to slide the deck towards you and out of the dash.

To reinstall, slide the lower portion of the deck OVER the tabs and simply push the deck back in until the tabs lock back in place.
