For those of you who have put 6x9s in your 123
how did you do it? I can cut out the deck to fit the speakers, but they are too deep to fit. Are there shims or something available to fur them up a bit?

ive been toying with this idea and making wooden rings to provide the space needed and making it look decent. Still need to figure out how tall to make the rings

I think had did that. There's a thread on this section where he describes the process he followed. His are actually raised and covered with speaker material. It looks very nice.

I put some 6x9's in. I took the rear deck out and made a new one from scratch. used 1/2 inch mdf and cut to the same size of the old deck. made sure it fit and then made rings to make it taller. I then tapered the rings and covered it in black vinyl. had to cut just alittle into the actual metal of the deck but it was more of a shave than a cut. heres a pic.
