Hi Ken,
I recently purchased a 1995 E320 and want to upgrade the stereo to include built in bluetooth phone support. The Sony Mex-bt5700u unit I'm thinking of getting has an external microphone with a 6' cable. I would like to snake the cable from the inside of the dash up to the driver side "C" pillar, so I can clip the Mic right next to the sun visor without showing the cable itself. I'm thinking I'll need to open up the panels beneath the instrument cluster and then the padding on the pillar as well. Any suggestion on how to remove these parts? Much obliged! Do you mean you got an aftermarket head unit and you're asking if its compatible with the stock CD changer? I would recommend giving Crutchfield a call, they can give you direct plug-in adapters for these cars.

Try the Becker sticky at the top of the audio/multimedia forum. I assume your OE radio is a Becker. I've got no personal experience, but feedback is that the support from Becker is good. If you can't find what you need, try calling or e-mailing. The schematic at this page might be what you need: http://www.beckerautosound.com/1432-1991/index_300CE_E.html Last edited by whunter; 06-26-2011 at 12:27 AM. Reason: spelling |

w124 1994 E320
Hey, i just bought an Alpine CDE-122 deck. Heard it is a very good system but its a 4 channel. I have 6 speakers so im guessing i have a 6 channel system? The guy at Car Toys told me that if i just bought the wiring harness and plugged it in it would only play out of the 4 speakers, but i want all 6 speakers to work. What should i do? im trying to avoiding rewiring my whole dash like he said. My car is a 1994 E320. How should i go on about doing this?
Thanks |

Ken,
I have a 1993 300E (124) and I want to keep all the 1432 stock components (HU, Tuner and 2 amps). What are the best replacement speakers for the money that are just plug and play? I don't want to modify anything. Also, I plan on keeping stock door subs too. Thanks in advance for the advice.... |

Running Power Wire in a 1991 420 SEL
Thanks for the great information in this thread. I have another question for you.
I am putting an amp in my 91 420SEL and I need to run power from the battery to the trunk. My car has 2 airbags. How do I access the wire once i push it through the grommet behind the battery? Also, have you ever run free air subs in the back shelf and if so, how did they sound?

1988 300CE
Hi Ken
Okay I'll throw my car into the mix. 1988 300CE. Becker 738 and standard speakers front rear connected via console fader switch. What would you suggest - would like to put single din DVD 4inch LCD in if I can but fear the top dash panel (switch panel) may impede a tray feeding out. Cheers |

Read your comments about cutting up a perfectly good harness. I have a 1993 300d with a bad HU. I received a Pioneer DEH-P7200HD for Christmas and have been attempting to determine how to install it for several days. You are right, the one thing I've learned is that there is a lot of mis-information out there. Although I feel like I have disassembled 1/3 of the automobile, I have not cut anything. I did locate the four speaker leads at the fader, but have not been able to locate the bundled 4 grd leads in the wiring loom. Even if I did find the grds, I do not want to lose my door speakers.
As I understand from your post you have built and sell an adapter that will allow me replace my HU with my new pioneer and keep my factory amp so that I can drive my door speakers. If I'm correct would please let me know the cost. Thanks - Nat 205 - 647-7248 or email at ILLOVOY@bellsouth.net |

If you are in the market for a 94 or 95 E class, you will not have any of these issues. You can find all the power, remote, antenna, and speaker wires from the hu's connector.

Hi
My name is Israel from Kenya, and all I can say is that you are God-sent. I am new to this site and am about to be a first-time Mercedes owner. I need help. Am in the process of acquiring a 1994 W124 E200. I fell in love with the w124s. I think they're awesome. Here's my problem. I want to install a great sound system in the car. I need to install a head unit, component speakers, a sub and amps. I came across a forum in which guys have installed aftermarket sound systems in a 124. I need information on the challenges likely to be faced. My greatest concern is speaker positions. I have a feeling that speakers might not fit readily into a 124 especially in the doors. Plus, I saw that putting a sub in the trunk is a challenge, something to do with gas tank location. Please help me by shinning some light and how to go about it. I am planning on installing Boston Acoustics Component speakers on the front doors, coaxials on the rear doors, another pair on the dash, and a sub somewhere . I want to fit a Sony DSX-S200 Digital media receiver for the head unit, will it fit? I have absolutely no idea of the speaker sizes to fit. Please recommend speaker sizes for me for both front and rear. And how about on the dash and rear panel? I intend on using a Jbl Ms-8 for sound processing and probably a Jl amp. And where can I place the sub? Kindly help. Thanks. Israel |
